Patricia Gogova

Financial Planning & Analysis Manager

Culture isn't what you say about yourself — it's what you do when something breaks at 2am.

Describe the most significant change to your role in 2025.

FP&A used to be a quarterly ritual — build the model, present the forecast, explain the variance, repeat. Now we run rolling forecasts with an agent layer that updates actuals daily and surfaces material variance automatically. I'm not building spreadsheets anymore. I'm governing the model, explaining the outliers to leadership, and improving the forecast assumptions. That's where the analytical value actually is.

What does a typical week look like when agents are actually in the loop?

I start the week reviewing what the forecast model surfaced — where actuals deviated from plan and by how much. I investigate the material deviations, determine if they're structural or transient, and update the model assumptions accordingly. Mid-week I'm building the narrative for leadership: what's the forecast, what's changed since last week, what decision does that inform. The agent does the data work. I do the interpretation.

What would you tell someone considering joining Groupon right now?

FP&A here moves at the speed of the business, not at the speed of the quarter. If you're used to a finance function that operates in monthly reporting cycles, the real-time cadence here will be an adjustment. The good news is that the tools are built for it — you're not improvising speed against a slow system. The system is designed for fast. You just have to be willing to operate that way.
