“The transform isn't in the code — it's in how you think about what the code should do next.”

Describe the most significant change to your role in 2025.
I used to spend a third of my week on code review and unblocking engineers stuck on boilerplate. That time is gone. Claude Code handles the first draft; my engineers spend their hours on the decisions that require judgment — architecture, tradeoffs, edge cases the model consistently misses. Managing a team of AI orchestrators is not the same as managing a team of coders.

What does a typical week look like when agents are actually in the loop?
Monday is alignment — what are we building, what does the agent layer own, what do humans own. Tuesday through Thursday, my engineers are running agentic loops: spec in, code out, human review at the seams. Friday is retrospective — where did the agent fail, where did we catch it, what guardrail do we need to add. The cadence is fast. The judgment calls are real.

What would you tell someone considering joining Groupon right now?
If you want a calm environment with clear specs and stable tooling, this is not that. If you want to lead engineers through a genuine operating-model shift — where the answer to most process questions is still being written — this is exactly that. I haven't been bored in eighteen months.
See open seats.
Building across engineering, product, data, sales, ops, finance, and people. Every role is an Operator role.
We get people offline through quality local experiences at great value. That's still the mission. Everything above is what it takes to deliver it in 2026.
